A Little Self-Indulgence

Affiliate Summit West is comming next week in Las Vegas. I won’t be attending this year because of prior commitments. After all, it will be hard to top one of the best trips I’ve ever been on from last year.

Affiliate Summit is the premier event for affiliate marketers. Some of the more important contacts I’ve made to date were met hanging out at the bar or at hosted parties during Affiliate Summit. I know AS 2009 will be just as great, probably better, than 2008. Here is a little video footage of my experience at AS West 2008, enjoy!

I did not actually get to KEEP that Lambo. I won, err earned, the trip to Vegas, 3 night suite stay, and the green “Money” Lambo for 2 days. We managed to pull out the victory for top revenue during the month of their promotion.

XY7 went completely overboard with their promotion of this, in the best way possible for me! Live camera crew, hired show girls, man oh man! Additonally, nothing secured a business relationship like taking clients for a spin in the ultra fast lambo. It was definately a great experience to live out while I still have my youth.

Anyway, hope to hear some great stories from AS 2009!

Innotech Conference in Austin

I must say that after attending the Innotech Conference out here in Austin I was quite impressed. Innotech is an annual event that dicusses the new technologies within the industry. There was a nice mix of small and large companies yet still maintained that local Austin feel that I have come to enjoy. The emarketing summit is the reason I attended the conference. The emarketing summit went over internet marketing strategies and changes within the industry.

I really enjoyed the Email Deliverability Secrets presented by Josh Baer of OtherInbox and Dennis Dayman of Eloqua. Both have a tremendous amount of experience in email marketing and it was very humbling learning from them. I imagine maybe a handul of people in the room had any idea on what they were talking about. For the novice email marketer it would have definately be tough to comprehend the value of the presentation. I, however, really enjoyed the presentation and learned some neat insights. Of all the conferences I’ve been to in regards to internet marketing, this is the first one that went into detail on email marketing. Email has the biggest ROI of any internet marketing verticals, thus should be taken more seariously!

Other highlites inlcude the landing page presentaton in which a friend of mine, Laura, was part of and Brett Hurt of BazaarVoice’s presentation on Social Media. Brett is a true inspiration in growing a company. I can tell he values people and his business proves that.

After the event there were further networking oppurtunities. I ended up going to a happy hour at Six Lounge on 4th St. I was dissappointed to learn that there was a cover charge to enter. I was under the assumption that this was part of the emarketing summit as were many of the other attendees. Oh well, I paid the petty $10 and stayed for maybe an hour to do some networking and chill with some of my good friends.

Overall the event was fantastic! Great bang for the buck for the value of information and networking oppurtunities. (I paid $75 for the all day event). I will definitely be back next year.

Email Conferences and Summits

As an Internet Marketer I spend countless hours behind a computer missing the beautiful light hours of the day indulgiing in email marketing campigns and analyitics. Every now in then I’ll attend a conference or two related to the niches I focus on. These experiences, few and far between, are invaluable to the success of my company.

Recently the Authentication and Online Trust Alliance (AOTA) hosted a conference in Seattle. I was unable to attend, but was able to get the juicy details from other attendees. Here is AOTA’s website for the event: http://www.aotalliance.org/summit2008/

One thing I found really interesting at the summit is AOTA hosted the first ever Email Deliverability and Trust Competency Program. Bascially, reps from some of the top name brands in the world including Amazon, National Geographic, Microsoft, and Apple were asked to conduct an email campaign that focused on consumer protection. The results as well as participants can be found here: http://www.aotalliance.org/summit2008/academy.html.
